With major Privacy Act reforms on the horizon, organisations must begin taking foundational steps to prepare—particularly when it comes to automated decision-making (ADM). These reforms bring new obligations around transparency, including requirements to clearly disclose how personal information is used in decision-making processes. While the legislation doesn’t mandate immediate changes to your applications, it does introduce a tiered enforcement model, significantly increasing regulatory risk for businesses that delay action.
In this inaugural Melbourne ConnectEd forum, Chapter Chair Veronica Scott, will host a session to explore the operational and legal implications of ADM under the updated Privacy Act, including how to evaluate and revise your privacy policy, assess your reliance on consent, and ensure your documentation reflects real-world data practices. We'll address the hesitation many feel in acting before the release of Tranche 2 and why waiting could leave your organisation exposed—not just legally, but reputationally.
